bad fuel pump or bad fuel pressure regulator perhaps
could have a leak down problem too.
try this, cycle the key on and off 5 times(fuel pump primes the system 2 seconds each time), then try to start. This would indicate a pressure leak down problem, could be an injector or the check ball in the sender.
Try this, hold gas pedal to floor and crank, if the car starts like normal you have too much fuel pressure because holding the pedal to the floor does <20% on the injectors. this would indicate a bad pressure regulator, also if you pull the vacuum hose off the pressure regulator(which is on the fuel rail) and watch it for a few minutes, if fuel leaks out of the hose, bad pressure regulator.
