Don't try it, there are so many options now that those modules aren't worth the attention. Pick up a Superchips, Hypertech, edge, sniper, SCT or any Tuner and shy away from the non-tweakable modules.
I have installed a 3" Magnaflow catback, K&N Air Charger and just did the an upgrade on the Hypertech Max Energy it has made a big difference, power and transmission wise; I have not checked on mpg yet as I am looking for HP gains which really makes the difference. I have upgraded the sway bars so she drives like a sport car. Looking forward to install JBA headers then will do a Dyno run to see the changes.
I installed a Superchips Flashpaq (mod. 1815) on my 07 FX2 and was very pleased...other than the ticket I got the first day it was installed. What I like about the newer generation programmers are the different power level setting "presets" that can used. Also, the upgrades at Flashpaq.com made this an easy buy. I'm sure most programmers have these basic features, it really depends on what you're looking for. A friend of mine installed a Bully Dog (? mod.) on his F250 and it has everything under the sun. It includes a sweet monitor with GPS and a backup camera/monitor. The unit is very user friendly...other than "easy" on the wallet. He spent over $1,200 on it...ouch.

I bought the superchip flashpaq and had nothing but problems. I assume it was just a bad tuner. In the meantime, I did some research and found out the Flashpaq only works with the K&N CAI. If you decide to shop for one later, keep this in mind. Again, this is all stuff that I got off the flashpaq forums.

That's extremely odd. Green filters outflow K&N (I tested it on a K&N display), Airaid has less parts typically, but that affects flow after the MAF but volant's and trueflow's boxes could have an effect, but it has to be minimal at best.
I think that superchips did their testing with K&N, but the differences between the filters shouldn't make that much difference in the overall tune. That is unless you change the MAF or the MAF's location.

I thought the same thing. I always had superchips in the past, and never experienced any problems. Of course, I had a K&N intake as well. I went to the forum board and noticed lots of people were pissed because the Superchip wasn't liking the intake. Again, this is all info I have got from the forums. I wasn't about to take the chance, nor did I feel like the headache.
I have heard of people over oiling the filters and coating the element in the MAF which causes problems. I guess the calibration could change slightly because of the increased air velocity, but the sensor should account for it. I would believe that superchips missed the mark on the closed loop A/F ratio or the actual calibration of the MAF before that though.
I am not sure. I just kinda read through it real quick. I was pissed I spent $400 on their programmer and it couldn't read my stock setting. In going on and trying to troubleshoot my issue, I started reading all of this info. I would just think they would disclose this information somewhere on the box or in the instructions. At least putting a recommendation would be helpful.

Did anyone data log it, or was it all conjecture?
If you get the MAF wet, all you have to do is get some "rubbing alcohol" and clean it up.
I bought a "cheap" cold air package and paid for it greatly, error messages every 30 miles, great sound but no power at all, got the K&N air charger pak and climbing the rockies it made a big difference from 2nd to 3rd gear at 80mph and just kept on climbing.
So far on paper shows that I have gained 88RWHP; the JBA headers are on order, next step will be to run it on Dyno and find out the truth. Plans are to make 3 runs, stock, Max Energy thru the mufflers, and open headers.
I use non-filming electric contact cleaner. It's intended for this kind of use and it comes in an aerosol. Some companies have marketed this stuff as MAF cleaner and marked them up alot.
