I just purchased my first pickup. I have wanted the ford f-150 for sometime and I finally bought one used. Mint condition? In and out. I was driving down the road and I lost acceleration power and I barely made it home. The electronic throttle control light came on. The truck had no power (pedal acceleration)for the last mile getting home. I pulled in my driveway turned off the car and looked in the manual and found what the illuminating light meant. I started the truck again after a minute drove a very short distance and it seemed fine with all the power back although I didnt go fast or far just in case the same thing happened. Please any help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!

Where do I get the code reader from and how do I do it? I am somewhat mechinacally inclined but do I need to shovel out money to dealer that I dont have or could I save $ and do it myself. Thank you for the relpies
Mine did the exact same thing, I would lose the throttle and the wrench light would illuminate. I would shutdown/restart and it would run fine for about 2
weeks then it would happen again and the same remedy would fix it.
Then in January it happened and the emissions light came on also; after shutdown/restart the emissions light remained on. I took it to the dealer and
they replaced the throttle body. Mine is '05 Fx4 45,000 miles.
The guys at the auto parts store gave me gum spray to spray into injectors to try this first before we try any computer or sensor parts. I hope this works.
So far so good. Autozone gave me the suggestion of the spray first for the carb. So far it has worked but in time we will see. Thank you fellow members for the input. I have browsed this site and found many helpful tips. I will post as well if I can help someone out.
