I need help I bought a 97 stroke with 65000 mile on it 6 months ago and ran good till i changed the oil for the first. When cold it had dead cylinger #1 to be exact i sent all 8 injectors to the shop to have tested an cleaned and it still did it then about 2 months later a injector stuck open sent to shop and they said all 8 wernt pretty so i rebuilt all 8 ran great for about a month ot two and now its doing it again but this time it clears up with in 5 or 10 mins of idleing if it even does it. I changed the glow plugs when i did the injector i hit the plugs twice and it still does it. somtimes when in gear on the brake the truck shacks a little. if any idea help please
ive changed 3/4 times since i now have 74000 and it shacks bad when cold becuase of the cylinder when warm and it starts firing sometimes it shacks a little like haveing a slight lope when in gear on the brake.
Have you checked the UVC connectors? The pins can spread a bit and not make good contact until they are warmed from the engine heat. Look for corrosion or even melting. The wireing under the valve covers can cause trouble too.
when i did the injectors the first time and the glow plugs i replaced one of the gaskets as for the rest they looked good at the time i just dont wantto spend the 20mins to tak off the valve cover. i have narrowed it down to the passenger side when the injector first went bad it was the same side. i use dello 1540 my dad has always run it in his rigs and on the farm.
Yah, I hear you, the VC's a PITA to remove. It takes very close inspection of the connectors to pick-up the bad ones, if any. The connectors on the outside of the VC's aren't too bad to get to tho. Like I posted previously, the pins can, and do become somewhat loose. You can expand the pins with a sharp pick to ensure a good connection. New UVC's will help but the harness connecting to them may be suspect. Especially since you've removed them a couple times. As you alrerady know there is 110v DC running through the connectors and it doesn't take much to have them drop voltage through a bad loose or corroded connector.
saturday i think im going back to the shop its been about 4 or 5 months since all 8 where rebuilt. I hate to say it but i think this powerstroke might be a pc of **** if i got an ol 7.3 idi like my grand father i might be better of he had it about 14 years and only thing went wrong was the glow plug relay. with 250+ miles
