I have a 2000 F-250 with the V-10. it runs good at idle. when you rev it with out a load you can hear and feel a miss. when you take off from a stop and stand on it it winds up and seems to cut out at about 3500 rpm and wont shift unless you let up a little on the go pedal. power braking it reveals a miss. there are no codes present at all. have replaced all plugs with autolites, changed all coils and boots, ran it on the motorvac and cleaned injectors, ford dealer replaced the maf, this truck has no egr, no vacuum leaks, no fluid consumption of any kind. i am flat out boggled!! is it possible that it may be the cam sensor? help me please!! the wallet is getting thin!
oops i forgot. the fuel pressure is around 35 at idle and raises a bit under load. the filter is new and the cat is now hollow. has new muffler and tailpipe as well.

I'm no mechanic so take this with a grain of salt, but have you put in on a scanner (like Auto Tap software) or used a Tech II to check operating parameters? O2 sensors come to mind.
it has been run on the snap-on modis. i have watched the o2 sensors and they appear to be operating normal. this truck is unusual in that it did not come with an egr system and only has 2 o2 sensors. strange for obdII. i am going to try and scan the cam sensor. but anymore help would be great. there are no codes at this time. non pending either.
IAC sticking will cause grief also as will a fuel rail mounted regulator going south
The open cat does nothing for you power wise and under some conditions hurts low end torque... there is zero reason to not have this important emissions component on and working
Sorry to rag on you--- I know what your intention is--- but the more and more ma and pa taxpayer are turning into "earth first" emotional hand wringing worry worts over global warming
They are getting good at using folks like you as example for higher and more restrictive LAWS prohibiting any tampering with any part of any vehicle...
What you have in the hollowed out cat is already a violation of Federal Law...not that any one here thinks you could get caught or charged ...still you already posted on a public forum the facts of the matter
Back to my fist thoughts... considering the legal implications, and the potential to tick enough off folks to act against all of us back yard mechanics, and the fact that an open cat gains you nada---- then it should be obvious what I am saying
ok the cat was not gutted to increase power. it actually was plugged. i am in alaska and trying to find affordable aftermarket parts for some rigs up here is hard to do. the freight is a killer. in fact i had 2 companies tell me they would not sell me a cat because they refuse to ship to alaska. i understand what you are saying and this is just a temporary fix. i can be fined up $7500 for this i know.
ok then... does anyone have any suggestions as to why this trucks runs the way it does?? forget about the cat for the time being. it is not the problem.
You get no real grief from me on the situation...just be carefull posting things like that in public...I am much more concerned with being able to work on my vehicles as I see fit ---not what some nit wit in Washington thinks ... wink

In regards to the shift:
When you "stand on it", the transmission won't shift until ~5200 RPMs... or until you let off the gas. This is just how the truck works.
In regards to the miss:
Sounds to me like you have a bad plug or coil pack. I know you have changed them, but I've found that "new" doesn't always mean functional.

maybe i am not descibing it right. when you stand on it around 3500 it starts to cut out and hang and will not shift unless i let off it. it will not rev any further than this. it is the same way in all gears.
There are alot of things that will cause this
along with what has been suggested already
dirty maf
failing tps sensor
fuel regulator
fuel filter plugged
fuel pump as Fred suggested
also the valve body in the transmission in that yr had a problem with loosening up.
therefore the epc (electronic pressure control) screwed up the shifting within the trans.
The fix was a new designed valve body and torque specs.

Rich
well i hope it is not the tranny. the ford dealer has put 3 in it already.
