just put plugs (motocraft) wires, cap, rotor, fuel filter on my truck, it runs better the old stuff had 100k mile on them from the original owner. however, i pulled up to a stop sign and it died. has done this twice. any ideas? does the computer just need to catch up?
Doesn't sound normal. Did you make sure the plug wires were fully seated? OEM parts for cap and rotor? Did you knock any electrical connections loose on the distributor?
Sounds like there is a loose wire or a weak spark thru the distributor. I have had bad experiences with store brand caps, rotors and wires. Good name brands are usually worth the extra price and normally OEM won't go wrong.
Could just be your truck is getting used to the new gear, but more likely something got knocked loose or not plugged in.
Also check vacuum lines. I almost always wind up knocking the vacuum lines off or loose from the air handler/AC on the passenger side when I do the plugs or wires. THis can cause all sorts of strange problems depending on what was unplugged or how loose the plugged in vacuum line is.
Other possible but probably not related to your work is the EGR often will cause stalling and with 100K miles it is probably due for a change or cleaning. Ditto the O2 Sensors.
it seems fine now hasnt done it again. i put Borg Warner wires, and the cap and rotor were the Duralast Gold. I will double check the vacuum lines. and how do you clean the egr, and 02 sensors. also the guy at the auto parts store recommended seafoam to put in the gas, which i did for this tank, and he also said you can put it in the vacuum line into the intake to do a direct clean....what do you think of that?
