My 2000 7.3 won't start. I had to jump the battery yesterday, I let it run for a while and shut it off. Now I go to start it back up it turns over but doesn't start. Any help would be great as to what would be causing this.
Well, I would start with the batteries, since you jumped them to get the truck running. You need to test them separately. The injectors won't even fire if they aren't getting enough juice, and one low battery can cause that.
There are four things I would check....and yes, your batteries need to be good.
1. make sure your fuel pump reset switch is not tripped. (pass. side kick panel)
2. check oil level in your HPOP. about a 1/2" from the top. (remove fill screw on driver side, top)
3. remove fuel filter cap and make sure diesel fuel in the bowl. (if not, check to see if your fuel pump runs when you turn your key on)
4. check all your fuses with a ohm meter. (your can check them without removing them)
Your high pressure oil pump is the aluminum housing right under your removable black plastic cover to gain access to your fuel bowl, and front of the fuel bowl.
