No probs fordsfly, but that's with the proper hitch setup, weight dist, not the bumper ball.
I myself would never put more than 200lb tongue weight on that ball bumper. Imagine going over a big bump and have your whole bumper assy ripped off and you see your trailer passing you by with your bumper hanging off the front.

According to my 91 Ranger Owner's Manual, a truck with the 3.0 engine, 4x2, 3.45 gears, manual transmission is rated at 0-2000# for the trailer (Max GCWR = 5000#). With the automatic, either 0-2000# (MCWR = 5500#) or 2000-4000# (MCWR=7000#).
