Front Parking Brake Cable
Went to push the parking brake last night on my 99 ranger and heard a loud pop and the pedal went to the floor. the cable snapped and is now dangling under the bottom of the truck. After looking at it closer it seems there are a few cables under there but the one that broke on mine is the front one. The one that actually hooks to the pedal itself, in fact it is broken at the pedal. I was wondering if anyone here has replaced one and how hard is it to do? And also is this a dealer only part or can i buy it at an auto parts store. Thanks in advance for any replies because i've got 225,000 miles on it and it wouldn't still be running if it were not for you guys help in the past.

It's not real hard to do, just kind of a pain to get to the back of the pedal assembly to hook it up.
Before doing so though make sure the rear cables aren't frozen, they may be stiff which caused you to stretch the front cable until it broke.
