ya...i know the instructions mention somethin bout hookin the tv somethin somethin up to a pressure guage...but..ya..my truck's sittin in a garage now in pieces and i couldnt get it to a tranny shop even if i did have the $$...
i got the lokar kickdown cable hooked up for the aod and the tension on it right now is taut minus 1/8 inch, just enough for it to barely sag.
somebody on here said once that if it wasnt hooked up right i'd fry the tranny within a mile....can anybody tell me if this can be done w/o taking it to a shop and if i got the tension on this thing right?
Scooter, no one wants to answer your question because the adjustments are so CRITICAL. You cannot just "guess" and hope that it is right, because if something can go wrong, it will. And a transmission is not something I would mess around with. You may want to call Lokar; they may have a tech line. If not, ask a transmission mechanic to ride out and check for you. You will need to check the pressure with transmision pressure gauges. Do you know how to do that?
I don't think there are many people here who have done this swap. I have used the "search" and I didn't come up with anything to really help when I tackled this project.
Paying the man to come out and check it to be sure it is RIGHT will be a lot cheaper than replacing an AOD. Remember...if it isn't adjusted PERFECTLY, you WILL DESTROY YOUR TRANSMISSION WITHIN MINUTES!
thanks man, i guess im gonna have to pay somebody to come check it out if lokar doesnt help. and despite the fact that they do have a help line, i doubt theyre gonna tell me to install it without checking pressure with those guages. ill keep you posted
i'm gonna have to tow this thing to the transmission shop...right? now that i've fooled with it, i can't drive it at all until that cable is right, correct?
