I have a 99 F250 that has been bullitproof until last week.
Going to work it felt like it was hesitating, but so violently I thought someone had a chain hooked to my trailer-hitch. The check engine light would come on and the truck would die. Pulled over cut the key off then on again, and the light went out and fine for a day or so. I have an Evolution programmer and the codes I have seen are: P1670 E F Feedback not detected, P 0344 CPS circuit error, P 0340 CPS circuit malfunction, P 0470 Ex back pressure circuit malfunction and P 0478 Ex pressure control valve high output. I replaced the CPS (from Autozone) and when I turned the key on I got an error: K A M Keep Alive memory, but the trruck drove great. Next day we are back to the same old story and the truck will go 4 miles and start missing again and die. Then will start up and run fine.
The ford dealer said I need a new ignition.
Any help from you Pro's would be awesome.
sounds like you need a new CPS (cam position sensor). those are classic indications. hopefully a moderator will come along and move this to the 7.3 forum.
EDIT: sorry david i just realized you already changed the CPS. woops!!
i know u replaced the cps but never buy electrical parts from advance or auto zone go to ford yes its expensive but they will work, thats exactly what it sounds like as soon as the truck heats up and heats the sensor it stops running just dies, then leave it sit and cool down will start right up and run perfect till the sensor gets real hot again!!
