I have a 2003 Excursion, 6.0 Diesel 4x4. Every once in a while (not continuously) it will leak a small amount of coolant and trans fluid. Any clues to what would cause this?
Thanks for the info. I'm going to do a good search for it this weekend. The trouble is, it's hard to locate because it's not a constant leak. Everytime I look for it, everything seems to be dry. The only way I know it's leaking is because there will be a few drops on my garage floor, usually after I've been running it for a while (I'll see it the following morning). I may just have to take it to the dealer, but I hate handing my truck over to those clowns.
Start it up saturday morning and let it run with some card board underneath. You will eventually see the leak. Also if neeeded clean the engine department prior with some engine cleaner. will make it easier to look for if the engine area is clear of other dirt.
I had that problem on my '84 Trans-Am and it turned out to be a pressure leak that only happened after you had turned the engine off and didn't do it for several minutes.. It would leak and then stop and since the engine was still hot, the coolant would dry on the engine and you couldn't find it..
Heat will dry the coolant. I would really look under the water pump for the weep hole to see if the seals are passing water. I have had a similar issue with F150 but after 13 years I gave up trying to find it. Just added stop leak and kept driving 135,000 miles and still dripping. Could be freeze plug but when engine gets pulled it will be replaced.

General037, I have the same issue, but not with any trans fluid. My excursion may sit for a week and then I come out and a small puddle of coolant is underneath it, right around the area of the catch tank/behind the left front wheel. When we drive it it may leak when we park it it may not. It is the crazy thing I have ever seen.... Someone told me that it could be my overflow tank that is cracked along the seam. Has anyone else ever heard of this?
