Highboy decode?

Can anyone tell by the serial # whether a truck is a highboy or not?
# F26YRX61207
Then theres another # FGXDDL
4600 GVW
1976 4x4 F-250
Divorced transfer case.

i dont know by the serial number, but yes, your truck is a highboy. there is a faq thread up at the top

The Term Highboy is explained in the FAQ thread attached to the top of this forum.

they were Highboys until halfway through the 77 model year .
up to Serial number Y20001 IIRC

I went and read a bunch of the highboy threads but Im not sure if I understand right or not?
Does that mean that all F-250's in those years are Highboys?
Like are all 1976 F-250's highboys?

Y- 360ci with 2 barrel carb
R- built in San Jose, CA
not sure about the x but the 61207 is the unit number

also not sure about the FGXDDL but the 4600GVW is i think how much the truck wieghs...not to sure on that one..

Highboy isnt an option or any type of term Ford used. You wont find any emblems or anything official that lables a truck a "Highboy". Its just a word we use to describe any F-250 4x4 built before 77 just because they sit higher than other stock trucks from that era. So yes your 76 F-250 4x4 would be considered a Highboy.
