I am purchasing a 1975 f250 highboy 4x4. I was told that it came factory with a 390 4 speed. The 4 speed is still in it. It doesnt have a motor. I have a 429 I want to put into it. I already have gathered up a flywheel and bellhousing. I am going to purchase a clutch kit. What else will I need to complete this project? I havent been able to find headers for a 4x4 429 or 460? Also what motor mounts do I use? the most recent motor in it was a 302. The motor mounts to that are still in it. Any help would be great Thanks jeremy:-
I noticed you said your 75 Hi-Boy has a 302 in it now? I'm trying to put that same engine in my 75 and am having a heck of time finding the right towers and motor mounts... do you know which transmission is in it with the 302? Does it look like the previous owner had to hack an weld the engine in or does it look somewhat original?
He had the same transmission that came with the 390, he jsut out a small block bell and bolted it up to the 302. Hadnt really looked close at motors mounts but you should be able to just get 302 motor mounts pretty easy
