Hey guys i have a 1980 ford f 150 4 x4 with a c6 automatic. I want to replace the trans mount because its dry rotted, the problem im runing into is every mount i order for it is different. The mount that is on this truck looks like 2 hockey pucks sitting on the crossmember, with a steel plate bolted on top of them, then 2 bolts go through the steel plate into the trans, now i know ive seen this on a couple other ford 4 x 4 trucks, so any idea what the confusion is or where i can get a mount?
I had some issues trying to get the proper mount for my truck so I bought a set of radius arm bushings for the same year truck. The thinner half went right between the crossmember and mount, hung the bigger chunk under the crossmember, and then ran a pair of grade 8 bolts through them. Worked like a charm.
The reason you keep getting the wrong parts, is because you are ordering the wrong parts. You actually want transfer case mounts, not a rear motor mount. Most parts books (exc Fords) don't show the difference. Ford parts books list a rear trans mount for 2WD only. 4WD is different.

I just found this thread and it may save my butt. I have the same problem with a 300 l6 and a T-18 4X4. I understand what I am looking for but are they a dealer only part or can I get them at an autozone (or any other parts store)?
i wasnt able to get them despite what the above poster had said, they dont list them. Best way i found around it was, i welded up the holes in the crossmember and switched to the newer style mount.
