Has anyone heard of or have the Bilstein 5100 preload adjustable shocks? I just seen them on the net today and was thinking about getting them as an alternative to a leveling kit. From what I have read and understand so far, you can adjust the front shocks from 0-2 inches to level up the rake of your truck. They are available for '04-current F150 4wd (2wd to come soon). Just wondering and looking for some input. Thanks!
I've heard nothing but good things about them. The reason I chose an AutoSpring 2" leveling kit is it cost $90 vs. $400 for 4 Bilstein 5100s.I may get the 5100s someday but I've got 3 or 4 more mods on my want list before I even think of getting new shocks.
Hey i just put a set on my 2004 FX4 and wow they made the ride so much better. They are adjustable but only in the manner that you take them off the truck and reset the ring for the height you want. Their only have 2 settings no more no less, but their Bilstein shocks cant get any better!! You will need a alinement after you install them cause if your truck isnt alined before hand it won't be after do to the leveling multipling the amount the alinements out. They are a learning experience so be patient while installing them.
I just installed a second set of Bilsteins on my Moms truck. The shock snapped in half. The mounting post broke at the weld, and came off the truck. Never seen that before. No offroading in it, just her truck to drive to work everyday on city streets.
