Properly Adjusting my headlights

I have a 96 F-150 4 X 4 and I just replced the stock halogen bulbs with a set of Sylvania Silverstar Halogen bulbs since they are much brighter than the stock ones are.
The right side went easy enough but moving the resevoir for the radiator and Ww fluid was annoying.

I know there is an adjuster on the top of the front support above each light.
Does this only work for the up and down adjustment ??
I moved a few months back and my chiltons manuals are buried somewhere in boxes.

My right Headlight needs to be brought in a bit instead of pointing off to the side and lighting the ditches.
I'd like to get it closer to the right edgeline.

Any hints are helpful and welcome.

I usually park in front of my garage (lights on, garage door down) at night and then adjust. It lets me see exactly where they are aimed. You can even measure to get them exactly right but I just eyeball it.

How do you adjust the right headlight to bring it in closer to the edgeline ??
The vertical adjusting screw I can find, The horizontal one is whats evading me.
Is there an adjusting screw beside the headlamp I am missing ??

It should be up near the upper corner of the light near the fender. Pointing upward.

Finally found my Chiltons manual today.
The long 4 mm screw does adjust the horizontal or side to side for the aiming.
But, There is also an adjustment screw behind the trim cover at 10 o' clock that adjusts for vertical.
That was the one I couldn't find.
I had the 2 turned around.

Matt0963,
You say you can measure the alignment of the headlights. Where can I find a chart or something with dimensions to properly adjust my headlights?
I have a 96 F-150 with heavier rear suspension which has changed the rake of the truck.
Also, any feedback on JC Whitney aftermarket headlight assemblies? My lenses are 'cloudy' and I want to replace them.
Thanks in advance!

If you park on a level surface, with a vertical surface in front, you should be about 10' away for the adjustment. Put on your highbeams, and they should point exactly straight ahead. In other words, however high up the center of your headlights are, that's how high the center of the beam should be on the vertical surface. For horizontal, the two beams should be the same width on the vertical surface as they are on the truck, and directly in front (not skewed to either side). Once the high beams are right, the low beams will be right.

That's how I've always done it (and seen it done).
