I just finished reading the post on adjusting headlights. (did that and it seemed to help my visability a little) I was wondering if there was anyway to make the headlights brighter. It seems OK on low beams, but no very good on high beams.
I had read somewhere, don't know if its even possible, but I read that you could rig up your headlights so that the low beams stay on when turning on the high beams?
How about upgrading to halogen bulbs or something. Any suggestions?
I went to Silverstars and it helped a little. I believe my main problem is the stock lens covers. They are opaque and scratched. My wife's Rav4 has much brighter lights on dim than I have on bright. I'm considering adding some aftermarket lights to help out.
I use silverstars also, they are a lot brighter. I also upgraded the headlight wiring harness which made them even brighter. The after market wiring harness is a heavier gauge. It's a good upgrade.
im with Hink. i have the 02 lights so they are very nice (jewel effect). if you can upgrade to them, do it, you'll love them. i have the harness from Summit racing (not sure if they still sell it, was clearanced). this enabled me to insert a diode in the unused plug on the passenger side harness plug, and now i can run high beams with low beams. plus i have silver star 9005 in the fogs and 9007 in the headlamps so i think i can make a blind person squint when i am coming.
I thought running highs and lows together would overheat the filiment. I had also heard not to expect more than a year or so from the silverstars, any feedback on that?
I've ran piaa platinuims in the past and been pleased, and I just upgraded to the '03-04 style housings which makes a nice difference. If you need housings anyways since yours are yellow and hazed, it might be a good time to upgrade.
I got the whole setup from ebay for about $120 shipped (two factory housings and new piaa bulbs) less than buying 1 housing at the dealer and much better quality than those cheap tawian headlights.
i dont know, but the upgraded harness is made to accept the higher load because the wires are beefier. i dont use high beams all that much, the lows are so bright i forget i dont have the highbeams on.

I went with the silverstars as well but I also installed the 05 headlites(clear) and they look sweet.I`m also unique in that I haven`t seen another Stroke with clear headlites with amber sides

A little. I've gone through one set silverstar bulbs in the past 2 years or so. It's always the low beam filament that goes out. The two went out within a month or so of each other. I think I'm probably about due for one to burn out again. I also have an upgraded harness, and it runs the low beams as well when the high beams are installed. I don't know if that's shortening the life of the bulb or not. But, for me, $30 a year for brighter lights is worth it.

Unfortunately that's probably true. I just had my first go after less than a year. I do, however, have the lights set to be on all the time. I'm sure that doesn't help. I still think it's worth it for the quality of light.
i went with my lights cuz I wanted a new look. the 2005 headlight upgrade was more than I wanted to spend at the time. I have people flashing their beams at me all the time at night. I can see their expression when I flash them back as we pass cuz the highs are so bright. I pass inspection just fine. Maybe later I will change them out to the newer ones.
if you rub down your dull ones with brake fluid they will clear pretty good.
I've got an upgraded harness from GOSperformance, along with Sylvania Xtravisions (same bulbs as Silverstars, but without the blue tint on them). Lights perform much, much better than they did in stock form. Very worthwhile upgrades.
