My F-250 = amazing, beautiful, big (hang to the floor) *****.
Their Tundra = spoof, "interior courtesy lights", big brakes...
Let's hook em' up since they wanna compare prices... My 10 would mercilessly roll a Tundra wherever I pleased. Ford markets what they think will profit them best as well as Toyota. Toyota will never be taken seriously in the 3/4 ton truck market.. yeah go ahead and laugh it up, but let's be real... Toyota's may and probably will excel in the small-1/2 ton range of trucks... but they are NOT a heavy duty truck company (despite plans for a diesel 3/4 truck they have). What is it going to be??? The Toyota Turfking? Toyota is a car/suv/small truck manufacturer, and if they try and step up to where Ford, Chevy, and Dodge ALREADY are.... they will lose several hundred millions of dollars in "we thought we could" money.... I'm by no means saying that Toyo's are bad cars... I had a celica, went 270k miles before needing to be rebuilt. But Toyota has a place, and they know it.
Is the 11k pound towing capacity for the new F150 Gross Combined Weight (vehicle and trailer) or actual tow weight capacity (Trailer only)?
That's alot of weight for a 1/2 ton truck! What truck configuration has this rating? Is it standard cab, ext cab, crew cab, short bed, long bed, 4x4, etc...
I think the only one that can tow 11,000 is the regular cab, long bed, 2X4 with the heavy duty tow package(which means 5.4, low gears, small wheels, big shocks etc.) As some one else said it may be able to pull it, but nobody in their right mind would want to pull it very far!
BTW- the truck in that ad is not the one thats rated for 11000 pounds. Pretty funny!
Since we're on the subject of bogus ads, Toyota is pushing their big torque and HP along with a 10,500 towing capacity, but if you check their specs this is a joke. The only way you can get those numbers is with a certain configuration "AND THE OPTIONAL BIG ENGINE" which pushes the cost up to where you could get a real 3/4 ton truck. Toyotas ads make it look like every Tundra has these specs which is a lie.
Sure, but at least they are not using ads that make one the engineering solution used on one product line inferior to the solution used on another product line. Face it, Ford really blew it with this ad. I wish they would get their act together.
