What colour of rim should be on my 1957 red and white truck.
In the 1950's red painted wheels were an option on Fords and Mercs. The years 1953-54 seem to have the greatest number of red wheels. The Mercury Sun Valley's and ragtops almost always have red wheels. Same on the glass topped Fords and rag tops.
Since your truck is tu-tone, you have the option of painting them either color. Red might be a little dark against black wall tires, are you running wide white walls? The option of going white, tho is IMO rather bland. Silver/Aluminum is NOT original..yuck... please don't!

I say white as the top I'm assuming is red? I've always disliked the color red and have thought the red steelie look was stupid on vehicles that didn't have any red paint.
Oh funny story, gonna put hub caps on the front I think and go Comando in the rear, (gosh that sounds dirty). I love the look of the heavy Dana rear axle. There will be new pics on tonight, those pics just had a thin layer of white.
I'd say red, the silvers just gonna look wrong, white's not really going to look right either. I think you should reevaluate teh possibility of whitewalls.......
My 65 was originally white and the company that bought it did a black below the trimline, with black wheels and silver painted hubcaps. think that would have looked alright. I'm curious what black wheels with some nice aluminum hubcaps would look like on yours.
I like the look of the rear hubs too and hubcaps also don't fit on dually wheels. I'm going to paint my wheels white and my original wheels were painted body colour.
