hi all, i was just wondering if anyone else has the issue that i have with my oil filter drain chute? well, all i can say about it, its practically worthless !!! its a good idea to have it there, but mine always flows over the back side, and makes a mess regardless !!! anyone else experience this and have a remedy? thanks !!
i never thought of that... maybe since i always do the changes inside my garage. maybe i could just put my floor jack under the pumpkin and simulate the decline. thanks for the advice !

yeah, i never had that problem but i would think that would work fairly well...or even a set of ramps then just back the truck up on the ramps....that would do it for sure......just be careful that it's not to much of an incline so all the oil comes out of the pan...
Same here guys, I liked the setup on my 97 where the filter was in front of driver side wheel. No matter how I park it seems to be messy but my wife has mustang and she's on the mustang forums alot as while I a'm here. Someone said they use a gallon size freezer bag and put around the filter while taking it off I did this and it does work good ,if your careful and don't let the bag bunch up..Just a thought.

thanks mik369..... i really like the idea of a freezer bag.... much easier than waiting for the filter to slowly drain out..... i dont run a shop, but i still like to be done in 15 minutes !!!

Don't jack it up on the pumpkin. It could cause oil leaks on the axle shaft housings, At least thats what it says in the owners manual.
Jacking up on the pumpkin can cause the cover to distort and leak. There is a special fixture Ford makes specifically for this.
The approved method is to jack up each axel independently.
I get a little dripping over the back side of the oil drain chute, but nothing severe or worth noting. I just move he pan back a little to catch anything that runs over, which seems to work for me. Perhaps a larger catch pan might help.
Easier yet is to use a hunk of aluminum foil from the kitchen....mold it to form a funnel from filter to oil pan...works great on my '97 Mark VIII and that filter is a nightmare to change.
