Stalling
I own a 98 Ford Explorer, 143000 miles which started to stall as I come to a stop. Once this happens, the truck starts easily in Park and Neutral and as soon as I place it in Reverse or Drive it immediately stalls again. I purchased an OBDII Scanner which shows Errors P0174 and P0171. Apparently, I've been driving with a spark plug that was loose as well as the wire connected to it for quite some time. Is it possible for the catalytic converter to be bad? There is some black smoke ring at the end of the tail pipe. The fuel filter has never been changed and am not sure if this would cause to stall or if it truly is a bad O2 sensor(s) (4 Sensors). The error is Bank 1 and Bank 2 too lean. The tranny was replaced over a year ago, and not sure if it's gone bad again, the stalling feels like when you come to a stop while driving a stick and you don't down shift to 1st gear, it stalls. Thanks for helping!
