Fuel Filter Light

I own a '95 F-350 PSD with about 190,000 mi. Driving down the road today the fuel filter light came on. In about a mile it started to skip so I pulled into a lot and then the truck died. I opened up the fuel bowl which was full. I then realized I just changed the filter about 2000 mi. ago so I put it back together and switched to the other tank. Truck fired right up and has run good since. Is there a seperate fuel pump in each tank? We just went through a real good snow storm here where the truck ran for about 26 hrs. straight. No Problems. Any ideas what it could be.
Thanks

only one fuel pump and it in the valleyu of the engine. you have a line from the tank to the selctor velve that is plugged I would ahve to imagine. The selector valve is on the insdie of the frame right at the front tank.
