Re gearing the diffs/front IFS and rear
Truck is a 2001 F150 4x4 lariat 5.4L superchip micro tuner II, K&N 57 FIPK kit, 3" body lift, 2" level kit torsion keys rear block..I was doing some searching , and found National Drivetrain.com has the high performace motive gear sets for $167.00 which includes the installation kit
what do you guys think of there stuff is it good or as good as factory, the diffs have been rock solid, I thinking of going from 3:55 to 4:56 front and back to get back close to stock power, I went from 265/70R/17 up to 315/70R/17 with new DC1 lightweight aluminum polished rims, and if I can re gear for less than $500 bucks me and a guy that works for ford will help me setem up, Im seriously thinking about it, my wife just got me a nice 6x12 single axle enclosed trailer to hall the toys around in and i want to be able to tote it down the road to dirt bike races..and camping, trough the mtns..any Ideas or advise on gearing..there site has a good chart which shows 4:56 should be perfect, but it does state the pin will need to be modified not sure what that means, figured the directions would tell me or I could call them..Im a feild hydraulic service technician so I dont mind the work, Ive got a full blown service truck with a 6,000lbs crane, welder, grinder, torches , most tools known to man,ect..
Ive pulled some big diffs down but always get a local shop transaxle to do the rebuilds, and im going to check with them as well as for price them doing it, I can take them the complet Ifs section and rear diff, they do good work, but Im a doit my self kinda type person, and Ive always wanted to set a diff up..how hard is it..Is it something I need to leave up to the pro;s..sorry for long post..james

Humm I just checked the acuu autoparts tire to gear ratio and it states to keep stock gearing with the stock tires 31.6" tall to the bigger 34.4 gearing is 3.86 and for 35" its 3.93, which it sound more like it..so 4.10 sounds like a good towing and hiway gear, and 4.56 might be a little low or is this calculator not right...

Nightrain check out this link, top right corner theres a calculator, glad to here the bearing went well..
http://www.accuautoparts.com/more.jsp?id=5&table=techhelp
Im just afraid of going to low, the most I;ll pull usually is a 6x12 inclosed trailer full of dirtbike , harley,or atv gear, But someone did state when gearing we need to factor in the extra weight of the bigger tires...the 4.10 gear is still lower, the calculator if correct says use 3.86 for back to stock and with 4.56 the 5.4L should spin them over or rip the driveline out..It would be a good power gear..I found these folks in the newest peterson offroad magg, they offer some neat stuff..
