Re gearing the diffs/front IFS and rear

Truck is a 2001 F150 4x4 lariat 5.4L superchip micro tuner II, K&N 57 FIPK kit, 3" body lift, 2" level kit torsion keys rear block..I was doing some searching , and found National Drivetrain.com has the high performace motive gear sets for $167.00 which includes the installation kit
what do you guys think of there stuff is it good or as good as factory, the diffs have been rock solid, I thinking of going from 3:55 to 4:56 front and back to get back close to stock power, I went from 265/70R/17 up to 315/70R/17 with new DC1 lightweight aluminum polished rims, and if I can re gear for less than $500 bucks me and a guy that works for ford will help me setem up, Im seriously thinking about it, my wife just got me a nice 6x12 single axle enclosed trailer to hall the toys around in and i want to be able to tote it down the road to dirt bike races..and camping, trough the mtns..any Ideas or advise on gearing..there site has a good chart which shows 4:56 should be perfect, but it does state the pin will need to be modified not sure what that means, figured the directions would tell me or I could call them..Im a feild hydraulic service technician so I dont mind the work, Ive got a full blown service truck with a 6,000lbs crane, welder, grinder, torches , most tools known to man,ect..
Ive pulled some big diffs down but always get a local shop transaxle to do the rebuilds, and im going to check with them as well as for price them doing it, I can take them the complet Ifs section and rear diff, they do good work, but Im a doit my self kinda type person, and Ive always wanted to set a diff up..how hard is it..Is it something I need to leave up to the pro;s..sorry for long post..james

Humm I just checked the acuu autoparts tire to gear ratio and it states to keep stock gearing with the stock tires 31.6" tall to the bigger 34.4 gearing is 3.86 and for 35" its 3.93, which it sound more like it..so 4.10 sounds like a good towing and hiway gear, and 4.56 might be a little low or is this calculator not right...

Yeah...4.56's would be great. With these trucks (the 8.8), anything lower than a 4.56 requires a modified cross pin for the carrier. Most companies make or carry one. Motive Gear sounds like they have a pretty good product. I havent heard anything about them though...

Nightrain check out this link, top right corner theres a calculator, glad to here the bearing went well..
http://www.accuautoparts.com/more.jsp?id=5&table=techhelp
Im just afraid of going to low, the most I;ll pull usually is a 6x12 inclosed trailer full of dirtbike , harley,or atv gear, But someone did state when gearing we need to factor in the extra weight of the bigger tires...the 4.10 gear is still lower, the calculator if correct says use 3.86 for back to stock and with 4.56 the 5.4L should spin them over or rip the driveline out..It would be a good power gear..I found these folks in the newest peterson offroad magg, they offer some neat stuff..

I checked with my local Transaxle today Ive known this guy for 14 years, He;s a guru with Big machine Diffs, gear boxxes,Transmissions, ect..There a very reputable shop, from Big to small, And He;s going to help me swap gears soon,I Buy the parts and he;ll help me with the TECH STUFF He plainly told me that If a gearset was,nt set right within 5 miles it could be toast, and reccomended the complete install kits for longevity..when I ask him what would be a good torque gear for my truck..He laughed and said depends on what I wanted to tear up next..for romping and stomping he reccomended the 4.56 with the 5.4L I just needed to keep my foot outa it and not rip drivelines tranny, and transfer case.. , and for a Better than stock pulling gear with 35" tires reccomended the 4.10 gears and still get good gas milage and good on hi-way..kinda the middle road..and he spoke highly of the Motive Gears, precission gears had boxes of gears just stacked up every where..Like I said he Does the Big yukes, dozers, trucks anything with gears..So hopefuly, I;ll get lucky and do the swap soon, I have,nt even gotten to drive my truck yet with the Bigger tires..Its killing me..Hope to finish the lift soon...Im sure with the 3.55 stock Gears , I;ll feel the differance.Just wondering what it will do in overdrive..at 70mph...Its gonna look sweet..I also went with the pro-comp ES3000 shocks..and steering stabilizer kit...

There are 4.30's available. Sorta in the middle of 4.10's and 4.56's.

You must have read my other post..lol, Humm a locker would be nice,She has cut my funds off, and I have,nt even gotten it outa the shop yet..errr, But Ive gotten a few good deals Ive had to point out to my wife...If it was up to me I woulda went full blown 6" suspension and gears, tires, rims at the same time..With a super charger,Efans..ect..which I woulda gotten killed.then.I;ll ask gary at the gear shop avbout the 4.6, But atc might have the good inbetween gear, a 4.30 might be good for all around, Im installing the body lift tommorow night hopefully..cant wait to getter done..2" key lift 3" body 34.4"diameter At tires,DC1 17x9 polished rims should give me a wider stance and about 7" taller than stock at the nerf bars, with the 315/70R/17 vs the 265/70R/17, should be a sweeet ride, I;ll post some pic...the gears with have to wait till my misses settles down..lol she;s killing my production..., wonder how its going to pull that nice new 6x12 enclosed trailer she just got me 2 weeks ago.for my birthday,,..humm might be an excuse to get gears

i HIGHLY suggest adding a locker - if you REALLY wheel your rig - its the same labor to get TWICE the performance back...WORTH EVERY PENNY!!!!

Did you do front and rear or just rear, and is the 4.56 harder on gas at Hi-way speeds...
