I just started getting a clicking noise on hard accelerations from what sounds like the transmission. If I accelerate lightly I don't hear it, but if I get down on it the clicking lasts the entire acceleration. The truck is an 88 Bronco, 302, AOD, with 257,000 miles, everything original. I know with that many miles it could be anything, but I'd like to keep her running a little while longer without rebuilding anything. I'm thinking maybe its the torque converter, but I havn't noticed any slippage. Any thoughts. Thanks.
Could be your U-Joints. don't wait too long to check them, Mine started clicking and the next day, dropped on the freeway going about 70mph.. could have been a big mess!
I just started having the same problem. A mechanic took a look at it and said it was the forward u joint. My question is how difficult is it to do this myself. I'm mechanically inclined but have never messed around with the drive shaft. Also should I replace the rear u joint as well. Thanks.
