Well, during more cleaning of the camper today I found another one of Dan's 8 legged friends. This one succumbed to a shot of RAID. Finally got those cabinet doors to stay closed with some magnetic latches, and I was able to add a curtain to the loft window.
Dan what did you say I needed to do to get the water working? I tried pumping on it to see if it would pull any water up, but nothing. Going to work on it some more when I get back from taking roommate to an appointment.
That would explain it! I am sure if there was any water in there, after 8 years it would have evaporated!
Just got a letter from the Good Sam Club. They want me to be a member. How the heck did they know I got a camper? Big Brother must be watching! Pretty good deal too. I can get a 2 year membership for only 4 dollars more than a 1 year membership on their website. Think I will take them up on that offer.
Talked with my neighbor today, and took him down to his work to try and get the S-10. On the way down I find out it is not an S-10 pickup (like I had thought earlier) but an S-10 Blazer. And it is not a 1995. I pointed one out, and he said his was more squarish looking. So I pointed out an '88-89 Blazer, and he said it looked like that.
He also tells me he has driven it, and checked it out and it only has one tear in the interior and that is on the passenger side sun visor. The only exterior problem is a broken radio antenna. He mentioned again that it only has 65k on it, and that it sat for 8 or 9 years before being moved to the shop where all it did was be used as a parts runner.
It has a certificate of non-op on it, or did, until yesterday when my neighbor paid for the registration, and title transfer. He is still waiting for his boss to pick it up at the smog shop, but again tells me he does not want it. He only needs it for transportation until he can get his GMC running. I told him I would buy it, and he said he would let me drive it beforehand to see if I like it.
Now, comes the second guessing. I am pretty sure I can get it for the same price he is paying for it, or maybe $100 more. It will cost me roughly $500 to go get my brother's Ranger.
I am thinking that if this Blazer is in the condition my neighbor says it is, and does indeed only have 65k miles on it. I would just cancel going to get the Ranger, and keep the Blazer as my daily driver. I want a 4x4 anyway and this one is already down here.
I can still sell it for more than I paid for it, and buy a '92 Ranger 4x4 that would be better for hauling things in the bed, but I don't know if I can get one in the condition the Blazer is in. I have owned an '87 Blazer and liked it, and I am thinking I may just keep this one instead of trying to get a 4x4 Ranger.
Still...... I like the styling of the '89-92 Rangers, and I would like to have the ability to haul things in the bed. Sure, I can put a hitch on the Blazer, and tow a trialer, but that costs money, the pickup bed is already there. And doesn't need to be rented everytime I need to haul something.
