My 90 5.8L Bronco keeps intiating a warning that I can't figure out what is causing it. The 'Check Engine' warning light keeps coming on. Sometimes when I restart it, it stays off.
What could it be?
O2 sensor was my first thought.
It drives fine and doesn't seem to have any noticeble problems.
Does checking fault codes produce anything to help me find the problem?
Pull the codes and it should locate your problem for you. If you don't have the computer to do it, go to autozone (if you have one around) and they will pull them for you (free!). Any dealership can do it too. There are many things that could cause your check engine light to come on intermittantly. Hope this helps.
I got Autozone to dump the codes for free as they have this free service if your 'check engine' light is on and they will only do the KOEO readout. turns out I have codes 12 and 13 which means a vacuum leak. Recently, I removed that EGR bypass valve assembly and probably cracked one of those ford plastic vacuum lines. going to get some rubber vacuum lines and replace them on that side, since I need to get in there more often to check plugs, tighten the header bolts, etc.
thanks for the help from all of you!! glad it wasn't one of those expensive experience.
