Question 6" lift question?

My buddy wants to lift his 76 f150 4x4 long box reg. cab with a 6" suspension lift. Will he have to lengthen his drive shafts? We'll probably go with the rough country lift off of ebay....$350 with shipping. It doesn't come with a pitman arm and it has rear blocks, but it will work for a beat around truck. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks

What size tires is he wanting to run?
IF it's anything under 36 or so, then a 4" lift would do. And since it's a beat around truck, then you could cut the fenders alittle if there was any rubbing.

The 4" lift requires a few less parts, and it's cheaper. Ok, a 6" lift might require that you lengthen the driveshaft, and it might not. I've heard many people that didn't, or only the front, but I had to do both.

A 4" lift would require: coils, 7 degree C bushings, drop track bar, extended brake lines, drop pitman arm, and for the rear, I wouldn't advice using blocks for the rear. You could either do a shackle flip, or put some add a leafs, and you could get the lift you need with either one for the rear.

For a 6" lift would would need to do that, plus, get a adjustable trac bar, radius arm drop brackets or extended radius arms, do the shackle flip and add a leafs together, might have to lengthen driveshafts, ect...

He is going to run 35's. (forgot to mention that). As you said MBB I think the 4" would be better all around just for the fact that it doesn't require as many parts or drive shaft mods. And I am gonna try to get him away from the rear block idea. "yuck"

The 4" lift works perfect with 35s, and it is a couple hundred dollars cheaper than the 6".

The shackle flip in the rear would only require a few grade 8 bolts and would get you 3" of lift for the rear, which would work perfectally for a 4" lift, b/c a stock truck already sites higher in the rear. Also the few bolts you'd need to do this would be cheaper than buying blocks and u bolts.

Also, I'd try and get a different lift other than roughcountry.
You might want to get him to look at www.broncograveyard.com for the parts I listed instead of buying the roughcountry lift, then haveing to go back and buy more parts, and pay for blocks that he doesn't need to use.

I def agree with MBB Ford,I have a 4" Rough Country lift in my 79 Bronco on 35"s with stock shafts but it was a crappy kit with blocks and I spent as much again to buy all the rest I needed, drop pitman arm,7 degree c bushings, and drop bracket for the trac bar,and then I still had to put drop blocks on the rear of the radius arms.Pay the money and buy a good 4" kit

I did not have to extend either driveshaft in my truck, but then again it is newer and a short box.
