place a towel or t-shirt in the middle of the strap in case it breaks. The towel or t-shirt will make the strap fall to the ground instead of your tailgate!
What you should do is go to your local Ford dealership and purchase a copy of the new 6.4 twin turbo powerstroke demonstration video where it faces off with the new dodge. the two trucks start at the bottom of a grade both hooked with a trailer weighing in at 10,000lbs. the dodge gets a five second head start and the ford not only catches up to the dodge but pulls on it and wins by two car links. I have a copy of the video and it shuts up the loud mouth dodge owners down at the local diesel performance shop in a heart beat!
I wouldnt do it, if the dodge rear end is like my friend 99 those rear ends are as close to a posi as you can get with out having a posi, it will not stand up to our limited slips even if you have one so traction does play a role and an advantage for dodge. Bottom end torque is bar none and we lag to much. Just tell him you will not do a pull off but to hook a trailer and then see what happens from there. Being your a 3.55 your already at a disadvantage. Hell, I rased a stock for stock truck empty and he took me off the line huge but I was slowly pulling on him till we shut it down at 80kph cause it was in the city limits. If he does not want to do the trailer pull then make a sticker for your back window saying "I'd rather be stroked then rammed" Its a little old but I like it and it does **** some of the dodge boys off.
Besides, argue with him that your not intrested in a traction contest but a proper full range engine RPM comparison.
Side note: I'm guilty for a tug, this guy was pissing me off with his 93 chevy dually manual 4x4, so we tightened up the rope, I held the brake, he poped the clutch, he snapped his U-joint. He was pretty pissed off and thats why I told him I didnt want to tug him. also it was pavement, he had this theory that his independent front suspinsion would give him all the traction in the world.
Don't do that kind of stuff unless you have money to fix
My friend has the 12v cummins. These motors are great. The powerstrokes are great. Leave it at that. BTW, My truck can out-run his any day. The cummins motor has mad low end torque though. We work together to pull stumps out. His truck chained to the front of my truck both in 4x4. Thats how we roll.
david's97f250hd, How do you like the transgo tugger kit? What differences did you notice with, and why did you install it to begin with? I am only asking because i am looking to get one.
jyne, I think since it happens so rarely around here, we got excited about using the hijacked thread smiley. Don't worry about it. But really if you start a thread about your question, you'll get alot more answers. I know myself, I was just having fun. I'm guilty of it too.
well we did the race up the hill, and i won!! we started at the bottom of the hill and he went first, he took off up the hill said he hit 57 miles an hour and took him 43 seconds to get to the top. tehn he cam back down, and i went up, i hit 64-65 miles an hour and took me 36 sceonds...... so that means i beat him by 7 seconds. still didnt shut his mouth up tho. still thinks his dodge is THE dodge. all there is to do know is hook up the trailers..
Hay i'm glad you won. I know all about the dodge FORD thing, I'm the only one in my whole family (Dad, brother, 2 brother in-laws, and father in-law) that drives a Stroker, there are died in the wool dodge boys. Heck I even have one son that gives me sh%$ about my Stroker. So keep up the good fight, I will. I belive your friend will just keep coming back at you with different challanges, so be ready.
ohh so thats what u were doing that u couldnt drive down and help me get that damn lift kit on!!! it took us fricken 14 hrs to get a body lift on man!!! thanks alot for the help man. stupid chevys!
jk jk
all i can say is wait, my buddy has a chevy 4x4 single cab man tran burning gas. same guy i helped put that gay gay gay lift kit on. we got bored and we were at a party and he was saying how great his truck was and i though different. so we chained up. and yes i cheated badly. i turned over my 6" drop hitch so i had a height advantage and i had my quad in the back so i also had the extra weight. so drove them out to the road and chained them. and i just pushed and held the brake solid and reved the motor up slightly. i was waiting and stated smelling rubber or clutch and started letting off the brake and giveing it more and more gas and i got him. its not saying much cuz my engine prob weights more then his whole truck but i got him.
and you know what man you only live once just go out and do it. chain up to him. if she breaks she breaks if you win u got all the braggin rights. just dont be dumb about it. if you get to hoppin let off the gas and hold down that brake and start giving it some gas. but your still gunna lose unless you put weight in ur bed.
good luck and dont take and **** from the dodge boys.
