Factory Tie Down Replacements

When I was given my 79 F250, the original owner removed the factory tie downs that ran around the bed and tailgate. These ones:
http://storm.tocmp.com/ford/pickup/1976/1415.jpg (Thank you Mil1ion for posting this)
Seeing as I still have the factory holes, I'd rather just find this style of tie down and screw them in, rather than fill the holes and drill new ones for a different style. Any info on where to find these would be great. I found a set at the junkyard, but they were gone last time I made it out there (only took about a week for a decent 76 to be stripped down to nothing...)
Any info, or anybody selling a set would be great...
Thanks folks!

I have seen them on E-Bay once in a while. If your looking to buy new ones, most of the site sponsors carry them. I bought mine from Bronco Graveyard and they get them from Dennis Carpenter. Check out the sponsors to the left of this page. They usually run around $25-$30 each. -Ed

Here's a set of aftermarket one's I've been watching on ebay. If you keep an eye out they show up there all the time.

$25-30 each?! No wonder the guy who gave me the truck pulled them off before I picked it up! I'm fine with the aftermarket ones. I'll keep checking ebay. I remember they used to sell this style in stores a few years back (they might have been smaller). That style seems to have disappeared though. I guess nobody wants to bolt in tie downs on a new truck (or can't for how easily those things dent...)
Thanks folks!
Anyone else find some decently priced ones, let me know!

Haha, thanks for the link. I just won those for $52.00. I didn't think I'd bid high enough to win, just gave it a shot. Been talking to the seller, who turns out to be fellow FTE member, mspooner. Why am I not surprised?

Your welcome! Sounds like you got a pretty good deal considering what they go for in the aftermarket parts books.

Alright, installed them today, they work and look great. Only problem is, I'm missing 3 of the inserts in the bed that add the threaded hole, looks like they popped out with the old tie-downs (probably stripped a screw and pried them off). I'm trying to find out what will work to replace these, I picked up some insert nuts from Home Depot. They were the screw in type, and they didn't work... They also have the hammer in type, that are barbed on the inside, but I figured I'd ask before I go blow another $3 + gas, and then hammer them in and find out they're too loose and just flop around.
Anyone have any info on this?
Thanks in advance!

A Bodyshop supply house should have them.

I'm not sure on the size of those holes without the retainers, but a plastic anchor could work, may just have to try a few to see what works best. I have seen the aftermarket tie hook assemblies come with retainers, but they are listed separately for some reason, so like Dennis said, check with a body shop.

Sounds good. I looked at some of the plastic anchors, but I'd rather get the correct parts. I wouldn't really want to rely on plastic anchors with an overfilled be heading to the dump on the highway...
Maybe NumberDummy will have the part number, that might make for an easier search.
Thanks again!

Well, I finally installed my two remaining tie-downs. I ended up using some hammer in 'insert nuts' from Home Depot. They were made for wood, and had four rows of 'anchors' (kind of spiked hooks), so when you hammer them in they'd hold on tight. They were way to big for the holes, so I ran them through the grinder so the bottom rows were flush with teh nut, but just barely left the top anchors so they could grab on to the inside of the bed. Hammered them in, and ran the screws, when they tightened up, they were solid. Can grab each one and shake the hell out of the whole bed without any of the tie downs feeling loose.

Just figured I'd update this for any folks in the future looking to replace the screw holes quickly and easily (and for only $3).
