Its a 1976 f150 2wd. I just want to get a better stance on it. I don't off road the truck , its an ext cab, lwb, its just to long and 2wd. I could put in spring spacers on it but that would through the wheels off center. So I thought that a body lift would be good. I would like to make it a 4x4 but have never done that before so have no clue where to start.
You'd be better off buying a 4x4. The conversion is pretty complicated, and could cost as much as a 4x4 truck.
They don't make body lifts for 2wds, and a body lift is the worst way to lift a truck anyway.
The springs on your truck are 31 years old, so new springs would lift the front. You could always get/make drop brackets for the I beams and that would get you some lift.
New wheels and tires do alot on there own.
I had a 76 Supercab that we did a 4x4 conversion on. It takes a couple of weeks to do if you have a donor truck. The reason the body lift won't work is it moves your steering column up and on those trucks the column mounts directly to the steering box with a rag joint. The only real way to put a body lift on is to change your steering box and steering setup.
