Turns over, barely starts

I have a 89 with 6cyl

Happened to me recently, turns over, wont start, then after trying it for a bit, starts up, runs for 30 sec -2 min dies.

I am guessing fuel delivery problem. She has 240k on her, about 6 months ago i rpl the fuel pressure reg cause the rpms were dancing.

My question is, what kinda common problems should i take a look at ?

I am not a wrench, but i know what stuff is

sounds more like an air problem, especially with rpms dancing. The engine will idle up for 30-120sec and then cut back air, then you die. Maybe a bad IAC. What codes did you pull from the computer?

haven't deavled too far into the codes, i did find a way to do it tho, ill get back on this tom and see what i found out.

allright heres an update:

Without pullin codes i figured it to be a fuel problem, call it intuition. I buy a new inline pump, before i install it i take old one off and hook directly up to the battery aaand it turns on,
i try turning engine over.....fuel comes out of tank line

So i pull codes i get a 96

Fuel pump secondary circuit failure. The EEC did not sense battery voltage on the Fuel Pump Monitor circuit.

I don't see a fuse in the box for fuel pump.

Does this mean I got a short in the line? Is there a fuse somewhere? Is the pump bad? (it did turn on when connected direct to the battery)

Any help is appreciated.
