Does anyone know if I really have to raise my engine to remove my water pump out?
My Chilton book is telling me to remove both front engine mount bolts/nuts then raise it approx. 2 inches for clearence. MINI-VANS SUCK!
Has anyone done this on their own?
Thanks in advance

Unless one of our memebers has a Windstar, we couldn't answer that question. The Aerostar and Windstars are totally different. The only things they have in common are ven different. Like the motor, it may be the same 3.0L V6, but it is put in differently enought that it might as well be a different motor. Changing the Water pump on an Aerostar is time consuming, and several things must come off first, but it is really not very difficult, done it twice myself. So to properly rephrase what you said about "MINIVANS SUCK!" I would change it to "ANYTHING FWD SUCKS!". Our RWD Aerostars are only hard to work on when you need to tune replace or adjust something on the back half of the motor. (Ok, maybe I did oversimplify that one)
You may have better luck finding someone who has done this before in a Taurus Forum (anyone here recommend one?). Sorry I couldn't be more helpful, but it really is a different animal. I would have to say from my limited experience working on other FWD vehicles, that your Chilton book is probably 100% correct.
