I have a 94' f250 w/ a stock turbo that I recently installed (it was originally a N/A motor) and a 5spd. The fuel is up a full turn and it has a cold air intake from K&N and suprisingly it doesn't smoke like a fright train. The truck runs great and the pyro will not quite reach 1200 deg. in 4th on a good grade w/ my foot on the floor pushing 7 or 8 lbs of boost. The problem is there's a NOISE. It sounds like something is loose like a "clank, clank, clank" noise. I don't think it is coming from yhe motor because it does not sound like an engine noise(like a knock or a ping). You can't hear it in the cab, but you can hear it standing next to the truck and it is louder under the truck. I thought that it might be the fly-wheel, but when I removed the inspection plate I could not find anything wrong. My next thought is the clutch, so I guess I will pull it and check it this weekend, though I do not notice a difference and it seems to work fine. Anyone have any ideas? HELP, IT IS DRIVING ME CRAZY!

No you can't hardly hear it with the hood open and your head under the hood. It seems to be under the truck or near the back of the motor or the trany. Would an exhaust leak make this noise?
Exhaust leaks can often sound like a metallic clacking noise. When you depress the clutch pedal, does the noise change at all? If not, I'd try to eliminate other possibilities before pulling the tranny.
check your tranny mount at the x-member.mine will come loose now and then and make some crazy noises that aren't noticable unless your next to the truck outside.
i had that same sound, i did have a bad dual mass but the noise was not that. so i found i had a exhaust leak, i was told it might be a injector so i ran diesel kleen in it and it went away for a while till i pulled a load with it. well i changed injectors and it was worse then (sound) so i reset the timing and it is gone. so what mine was i feel was bad injectors allowing the compressed air to feed back in to the injector, and the timing being to retarted did not help either. and yes my sound came from under the truck like the back of the oil pan. so i would say you may have a bad injector some where.
Thanks for the replies! I will take them both into consideration. However I am leaning toward ncfirefighter46's diagnosis due to the fact that it stop yesterday(the NOISE that is). The bad part is it came back. When I changed the fuel filter I used diesel kleen, so maybe it is the injectors (this was the day it startedmaking the NOISE). This may not be such a bad thing because I wont to get a turbo ip and stage 1 injectors. Is there a way to check the injectors to make sure they are bad?
Thanks again!
