Could anyone please give me the info on the speaker sizes of a 99 f-350 crewcab. I have 2 speakers that have gone bad and looking to replace all 4. Size and or speaker suggesions would be great...Thanks!
Goto Crutchfield.com, They will give you all the specs and tell you which speakers will and won't fit. If you don't like their prices just get the info and shop around.
I recomend Crutchfield, they are the best so far. By the way they are 6x8 all the way around and if you order from crutchfield they will include the wire adapters to make puting in those new speakers a sinch plus directions on how to remove the door panels. A nice set of Infinities or pioneers will do nicely with the stock head unit. I would recoment Polks DB series but for some reason they dont fit the superduties , I had an Alpine deck and Polk DB's (4) in my '99F150, good sound but the day I put the stock head unit back in it was like my Alpine deck was under powered, for some reason the factory head unit made the polks sound amped. Those Polks were some dam good speakers. My 2002 SD has my old Alpine deck in it since the factory 6 disc took a dump, I have Infinity Reference 6x8's up front and Sony VSX 6x8's in the back, the infinity's handle the highs and some mids and the sony's in the back make for a better bass and mid speaker. I think its a good combo but I would like to get a sub to compensate and fill out the music better.
As stated earlier, they are 6x8. I also recommend Crutchfield. I purchased a cd player head unit from them for my f-250 and they threw in the install kit, wiring harness, removal tools for the stock head unit, and instructions, all for free!
5x7,one of Fords worst Ideas..........every decent aftermarket speaker is
6.5 inches - every comp set is 6.5 inches..
Most everyone that makes a car uses a 6.5 or a 5.25 round speaker up front
but not ford....pisses me off cause doing an install is now a huge PITA
I almost didnt buy the truck because of it,as I love aftermarkets stereos
but I deceided to use the ford for 3 years and leave the stock audio alone.
I don't know about your '07, but I put some Diamond audio 6.25? (sorry can't remember the size off the top of my head.) component speakers in my '02 with no problems, and they are pretty deep. I made my own plate out of sheet metal and covered it with Dynamat. Sounds awesome!
excelerator, lol, you almost didn't buy the truck because of speaker size? are you kiddin or what????? as far a being a HUGE PITA? again, are you kiddin?? c'mon, its so easy to install a set of components, even a caveman can do it. there are adapter plates that you can buy. if you are in the least bit handy and if you do it yourself, you can make them very easily. and lastly, the 5X7's, um no, thats not a ford speaker. they went with 6X8's. most aftermarket speakers are 5X7's. if you had the stock system for 3 years now, you must not be serious about doing a system anyway. i think on this one, you should leave it to the pro's. dont do it yourself.
so... would a 6.5" fit? is thew hole deep enough??
Depends on which opening & what speaker.
- Given differences between the front & rear doors, there is a minor difference in the allowable depth of a speaker that can be used between the two doors.
- Not all speakers are created equal. To that end, one 6.5" speaker may run in excess of 2 1/2" in mount depth while another may be closer to 1 1/2" in depth. If for no other reason, Crutchfield is a good place to find what will fit, as they do quite a bit of the research for you. (On a side note, Crutchfield's website has flip-flopped the Crew Cabs a Super Cabs. So, if you actually have a Crew Cab, you will need to select Super Cab on their website.)
