How much is to much ?
Hi i was just wondering how much oil should someone go though between oil changes . I know these trucks burn oil , i have heard some poeple with lots of miles burning oil . It is winter where I live ( getting warmer ) which i heard add's to the amount of oil comsumed. I burn about 2 quarts every 3000 miles.
Does that sound like alot for the amount of miles i have ? Should i be concered about the rings ? Or is this normal ?
And i have a small oil leak seems like the seal between motor and tranny but doesn't seem to leak bad.

That seems a wee bit high but, You need to get the oil leak fixed b4 you can determine how much it's buring. The leak you described may be coming from the top of the engine and leaking down the back of the block. Check the engine valley for puddles of fluid.

that does seem a bit high but nothing to worry about. get that leak found and fixed and then see what what you have. Jim is right that is probably on the top side in the valley of the engine. between the engine and trans is just where the drain hole for the valley comes out.
