anyone on here ever have a grear vendors overdrive? i have a 2000 psd with 4.10 and 35's at 75mph im running alitle over 2500 rpm i would like that to be 400-500 rpm lower... i called gearvendors and the only thing that im hung up on is that they said that i cant tow in double overdrive; if im on flat ground towing my little mustang on a 18ft. car hauler, i dont see why i cant do it, (with a 20,000# fiver i understand) but the guy said that it would be to hard on the fulid inside the drivetrain.. i dont think that he is bsing me, but if i cant tow anything in double OD than whats the point??
I have one on a 79 F350. It is just a gear splitter overdrive. It works great. You can run it in the automatic mode that gives you the overdrive without having to shift it yourself or you can manually split the gears i.e. pulling a load up a steep slope. The unit shifts smoothly and quickly either way.
Obviously, with my C6 it's great to have the added ratios & final overdrive ratio.
Something doesn't add up.....you sure the gears haven't been changed on your truck or did you buy it new? My 05 had 4.10's and it ran a little under 2400 with the factory 17" tires which are about 31.6" in diameter. With 35" tires and 4.10's I would have though you would be down around 2200 in overdrive. Doing a check on a spreadsheet I have, a little over 2500 with 35's would put you at about 4.88's. The other thing that got me thinking was your speedo. Was it corected forr the 35" tires? If not then you are going alot faster than 75 mph when your speedo says so. Your factory tires size was alot smaller and that would explaing the the 2500 rpm ar an indicated 75mph.
He has a 2000 PSD and with that year of tranny isnt that normal. I mean the 7.3L and a different tranny shouldt even be cose to the same rpm's a 6.0 with the torqueshift would have. I have 3.73's and at 75 mph I just over 2300 rpms, so what he is see'ing sounds about right to me. Also depending on how much wear his 35's have gone through actually 35's are not that much bigger than stock tire's.
final drive of the zf six speed is .72 the auto of that year is .70
i am sure that the gears are 4.10 the 35's have about 10,000 miles on them so they are still close to 35". im accounting for the incorrect speedo... if my math is correct 4.10 with 35's are around 3.80?? add to that the low OD of my six speed.... i guess i am just trying to either talk myself into or out of buying the gearvendors unit...

I hear you with the talking yourself out part, those babies cost alot of dough. I am guessing you had the 265/75-16 tires stock, if so my math comes out close to yours, I came out with 3.70. Good luck which ever way you decide to go.
