A while back, one of you pointed out that the ORA IDI 6.9L dyno test was no longer up. Made a call and had it put back up for everyone's enjoyment. They apparently accidentally left it out when transferring to a new URL late last year.
That is very impressive. That makes me want to bite the bullet and buy a turbo kit for my diesel. With reliability stories like that, I doubt I'd regret getting it.
I hope I don't offend anyone by saying this, but I don't think the powerstrokes are not worth the metal that goes into them. For all the high tech systems and all the computer integration, they still burn the same amount of fuel - if not more than the older IDIs. And then there's the cost of all those high tech parts (don't even want to know how much an overhaul would cost!).
As Jim's dyno test proves, the road has a hard time telling a turbocharged 6.9 from a powerstroke. Now if Dave ever put his rig on a dyno......I hope the dyno is insured.
I don't think my engine is quite that bad, but it has put a few new trucks in their place, behind me.
But sooner or later, I run out of gears about 102 MPH and then they go flying by if they have big enough kahuna's.
One of my friends just gave me a line on a 96 dually axle today, if it is still there I may have to install that six speed this summer. Then we can see who runs out of gears and power first.
With my tires and gears with the RPM I can turn, a six speed should be able to run 143 MPH.
I see speeding tickets may be in my future if I do the six speed and keep the 3.55 gears.

I can see how that could be a frustrating experience. My truck had 4.10 gears when I got it--nuff said. But even with 3.08s I will still be putting an E4OD in. By now the truck has earned its keep, so I don't mind splurging on it a little, especially if it will help my mpgs. So what is your max rpm? mine tops out a little over 90 (calcutated not tested) and I see you're running 3.55s.

The previous owner told me something along those lines when he found out I put 3.08s in. Some say there's no excuse for a n/a diesel, I say the same for a truck that was built without overdrive.
