Aren't you a little worried about your tires flying off at those speeds? I saw that happen (on the news of course) to a stolen superduty that was involved in a chase near calgary a few years ago. I'm scared to go past 85.
The tires I am running are over 230 each last spring, if they fly off I will have someones behind wrapped around my boot toe.
Besides, the Dodge boys would never be able to stand the "My Ford went so fast I ran the tires off it" story.
Since my speedo stops at 85, the 2003 3500 Ram Cummins I was playing with told me we were at 102 MPH before he started pulling ahead of me.
I have since installed a set of Stage 1 injectors, we are going to have to play again, soon.
You all have no idea how much fun I have with my old Ford.

LOL, aren't you worried about your boot flying off at those speeds
Actually I was wondering if there is a maximum safe speed for tires that are not rated for the strip, but I guess its all subjective, and also way off the official record . My f150 has an AOD tranny but I've never been past 85 with it for fear of loosing a tire (definitely not $230 tires).
I've had mine over 85 several times, and I'm running a set used tires I only paid $100 for (all 4). Of course they are 10-ply Goodyear MTRs - but they have only about 30% of their original tread left.
Exactly how far over 85 I was going I can't say - I didn't happen to have my GPS with me at the time. All I know for sure it that the speedo was pegged and my foot wasn't all the way to the floor yet
Hey! who are you calling a wussy? I'll have you know that I routinely hit 85 if I feel like ramping up before a steep hill. I've just never tried to go faster.
In case you haven't noticed, I just might be a lttle full of it .
I have to admit, I was quite suprised when I first opened mine up to see what it could do, but I never actually floored it ot see how fast it could go. I got the feeling that I would have hit the governor before I ran out of hp. My tires are also used, but I have no idea what brand they are-I was desperate.
Why does the speedo have to peg at 85 anyway.
I knew a guy who had a 1976 f250 with a built up 460 in it, I'm not sure, but I think in that year of truck the numbers would max at 100 (my dad had a 1975 that did), and he was able to spin the needle all the way around to zero and beyond. Hmmm.....maybe I am a wussy after all .
my 6.9 will run 90 or so i have 33s on it my dads powerstroke turbo has more get up and go but mine will run about as fast as his i also learned never go about 120 chasing my friend in a lifted bronco II with 33s and no stable bar that sucked
the speedo on my 7.3 will get in to the left side of the odomiter.my buddys 600+ hp 69 fastback was next to me I had it ***** out and he said I had just broke 110.not bad for 4.10 and 35s kinda make me wont a set of 3.55s or 3.73s.I tow up hill too much for that.
will the 6speed bolt up to these motors with out an adapter system?
