I got a killer deal for new Ford converter installed for $375. Every one else wanted 800 to 1000 to do it. The only cure is a new TC
Betthebux, Where do you get a torq converter for that price?? I need to change mine but don't want to spend the 1200 to 1500 I was led to believe it would cost just to make the truck quieter.
A trans shop in Provo Utah called Libbeys Auto. He quoted me 450 but then only charged 375. I don't know his source for parts. He also did a complete rebuild for my Sons E4OD for 1200 including new TC and new cooler. It won't cost 12 to 1500 if you don't go with one of the expensive aftermarket converters. IMHO a stock TC is plenty good for a stock trans.

I have a 2001 w/4r100,just hade my t/c play games locking in and out and in and out and in and you get the picture resulting w/ overheated transmission.shop that did the rebuild 1 year ago said there's nothing wrong with the transmission, but I bet in a couple months when my warranty is up it blows up.After the t/c problem,I now have this scraping noise in my t/c on startup.

My truck is in the shop now. The TC had been rattling for some time. Then came the scraping noise. That was the flywheel slipping. Now getting a TC and Flywheel. Should have had it fixed sooner.
