Power Steering (PS) Cooler Question

In a recent add-on tranny cooler thread, someone suggested I convert the OEM tranny cooler mounted in the bumper into the PS cooler instead of the small OEM PS cooler. I can't find an OEM PS cooler in my '93 Aero. Did it run away from home?

Those tubes in front of the radiator with fins on them, that is the PS cooler.

There is no P/S cooler on either my '93 3.0L or '95 4.0L. I guess you must pay extra for those when you ordered the van from the factory.

I'm the one who converted the original transmission cooler into the P/S cooler. Then I added a really big transmission cooler in front of the A/C condenser. Working great so far.

I didn't realize not all Aeros came with a PS cooler. Each of mine came with one. It's a tube that runs across the front of the AC condensor a few times, each run separated from the other by about 3". They are attached to two strips of metal that attach them to the radiator support frame. They do not have fins however. It's not a very aggressive cooler, so maybe most vans don't really need it. However, I'm sure having one won't hurt. I also replumbed my PS lines to run through the old ATF cooler, and installed a new plate cooler for the ATF. I'm feeling that maybe I should have installed a second plate ATF cooler, as there isn't much open space in the grill.

Thanks for the feedback. Since I've got some PS work to do soon, I will do as xlt suggested and convert the old bumper-mounted tranny cooler into the new PS cooler.

The PS "cooler" on my '91 was the high pressure hose. It snaked around from the pump to the passenger side in front of the rack and then came back to the drivers side. I remember it was costly. My '93 does not have a cooler. Had I been more frugal (and known better) I would have replaced the '91 with a '93 hose. Both the '91 and the '93 are extended, btw.
Since I do just about all highway miles on mine I feel the cooler is not really needed.
