6.0 trans cooler 27 or 32 row

Looking at 6.0 trans coolers, called Tousley's and spoke with Gene. Heck of a nice guy and was real helpful. Was stumped when he asked me if I wanted the 27 or 32 row 6.0 cooler. Looking for someone to shed a little light on the subject.

Looking at the 6.0 vs the 7.3 OEM tranny coolers there is no comparison. But is there a big difference between the 27 and 32 row? Is the 27 row enough, or just spend the little extra and get the 32 row?

Thanks,
Gary

Well they are 26 or 31 row coolers. You should be fine with the 26 row cooler. It is 2/3rds larger than what you have now. I run one that size and it keeps my temps around 135* empty and 160-180* towing in the summer. Not really a need to run a bigger one.

From what I remember of Mark talking about it, there is really no difference in cooling capacity.

I have the smaller cooler and it works great. I can't even think of it being anycooler. I'm in CA and in the winter the gauge hardly moves. Towing I see 168 degrees so go the cheaper of the too.

Both the 26 and 31 row units are more than double the size of the OEM for the 7.3, so even if the 26 row unit has an edge on efficiency, you'll gain so much cooling with either that you probably won't ever notice the difference.

Already printed them out the other day! Thanks! I do have a question for you though: the guy I bought it from sent me the elbows and partial hose parts, so can I just hose clamp them back on and then just cut the existing hose and install an adapter from 3/8 to 1/2? That way I don't have to mess with re-routing or not installing the lines correctly.

Sure you can! There is not really a wrong way to install it. Just make sure you don't restrict the flow and you are fine. Sounds like you have what you need to install it.

We shall see! Hopefully this weekend. I'll let ya know how it comes out. Gotta find some brass adapters. Maybe Ace Hardware? Don't know if Home Depot will have them?

No I didn't install it myself. I had it put in with JW transmission, I also changed my radiator to have it flow threw there to. I have an E99 and it didn't come that way.

Quick question, I've read that some folks deleate the oem cooler or I guess just bypass it because it flows less that an aftermarket one (I have the TruCool). Mine is hooked in series so I still run fluid through it. Is the deleate the way to go?

I have my TruCool hooked in series with the OEM cooler and it seems to be working fine. Been on there for about 150k miles or so...

My truck is a 1999.5 and it doesn't have an OTW cooler either...
