I have a 2000 f-150 2x2, 4.2 6 cylinder long bed. I am wanting to put some all terrain tires on it. How big can I go without rubbing my fenders and messing up the odometer? Help please. The goones at the tire stores have no answers. They can only spit out manufacturers recommendations. I know I can go bigger than that. Thanks.
I have a 99 f150 4.2l 4x2 and I recently placed GoodYear AT-S LT245-75R16's on it. I have not noticed any real diference in the odometer. When the wheel is turned all the way the tire just barely touches the mud flaps, but I could adjust the mud flaps a little to avoid this. The truck looks good with this size of tire.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 29-Nov-02 AT 01:50 AM (EST)]Just food for thought, for every mile you are showing to travel with the bigger tires, you are really going 1.051 miles. IOW, your odo is now off by 5.1%. Not a big deal. But lets say after 50k miles, you would have traveled an extra 2569 miles. that is of course if my algebra is still right.
