I have an 03 with the 6.0. It is a pain to get started when it is cold. It sounds like a flooded gas motor the way it cranks and won't start. Sometimes I can keep messing with it and cranking and it will start. Sometimes it drains the batteries and won't start. Once it has ran it will start right up with no trouble. Also if I leave it plugged in over night it will start right up in the morning.
Any ideas on what it is? I am thinking maybe the glow plug module. Is there a way to test this? Where is it located? Any help would be great.
Yes there is a test your dealer can use to monitor glow plug performance.
Have you received the new flash that addresses this issue (07-05-04)
At what temps do you see this problem?
Seems like I have this issue any time below about 45-50 degrees. At first it wasn't all of the time and now it seems like it is anytime that it is cold. Was hoping not to have to take it to the dealer sinse I am guessing the module isn't covered under warranty (the 100K one for the motor)
Where is the module located? I was thinking maybe I can swap the one out of my buddy's '04 just to see if it cures the trouble. I had the truck to the dealer around November last year to have an injector replaced so it was flashed at that time.
the glow plug module is under the 5/100k. that tsb that farmer gave reference to, go tell your dealer you want that flash. it may or may not be your gpcm.
