It did it again!

It quit again 50 feet down the drive. Would not start. Had to drag it back into the shop with the Oliver. Shure could use some ideas. PK

make CERTAIN the oil in the HPOP is topped off. the truck WILL die immediately (no shuttering) if the res gets low

I say valve cover harness'. Think about it like this. The glow plugs continue to build heat over it's cycle. Maybe they were fried and it just keeps melting plastic. Sometimes insulating it (runs longer) sometimes not (dies right away). I would really lean tward that. Check your harness'. Truck runs, 50 feet down the driveway, glow plug wires/connectors finally get hot enough to burn through some plastic and kill the truck. Anyway, that's what I think.

Where did you purchase the CPS. A brand new CPS will fail right out of the box. Some CPS's are junk from the mega-auto part stores.

Start from the beginning:
Does the tach move while cranking?

once again, It Runs!

Well lets see, the CPS is a NAPA unit, I pulled the old one out of the trash. I think I might have a spare CPS. How do you check them? Any how I started wiggling connections one at a time then trying to start the motor. I got to the fuel regulator and a pressure sensor on the left side with one wire on it. I pulled it off the terminal slipped it back on and the motor started. I wiggled the wire and the motor quit. I then cleaned the connector and terminal put it back on and the motor started. I couldn't make it stop again. I took it down the road and it ran great. I wiggled all the connectors I could get to while the motor was running and could not make it quit again.
So what is this sensor and what does it do? None of my books ID this part.
