Here's a couple pics of a cover I had made - still working on it.
I mounted it to the inside rails of the bed with stainless screws.
It is not water proof as there is still openings between the tool box and the side rails.
Also I need to figure out a good way to secure the front half. I have a latch like the recessed ones that are on a tool box, just haven't decided the best place to put it.
The back half has a small stud I put in the middle of the back flange and drilled a hole in the tailgate. When the tailgate is closed, you can not lift the back panel.
Also have not decided if I'll paint it black, or LineX it, or just leave it.
bending the plate was done on a brake at a sheet metal shop, also the guys there welded the corners.
The materials (1/8" aluminum diamond plate and 2" stainless channel) are a couple hundred bucks - it pays to have buddies in the business.
The channels are welded into the shape of an H with the center one facing down, the center hinge is riveted to it.
That looks awesome. It's kinda the idea I had using signboard painted with a spray coat of paint to match the truck. How much was the metal, and where do you gert stuff like that?
