my 05 screw has 255/65/17 tires, 2wd, and the only thing I tow is a 3000-4000 pound boat. I live in south FL, we never get snow and I don't go off roading. I bought new 18" FX2 rims with no tires the two sizes of tires I found with ford 18" rims were "Lariat" 265/65/18, "FX4" 275/65/18. My questions are what tire size would be best for my application? and with 275/65/18 my tire diameter will be aprox. 2.5"-3" bigger will I need bigger brakes? Any info would be helpful. Thanks
275/65/18 are 32.1" in diameter and 265/65/18 are 31.7" in diameter
I'd go with 275's they will fill the wheelwells better.
I believe your 17" tires are 30.1" in diameter.Your brakes will be fine. But it would help to have an Edge programmer or some way to recalibrate your PCM for the difference in tire size.
