Just wondering if any of you gentleman had the problem I'm having with my 99.5. My fuel gauge indicates a full tank on one startup then 1/4 tank the next. It's not that erratic, just once in a while. This happened years ago when the truck was newer and was fixed at the stealership under warranty. Would anyone know whats going on.
I have it off when filling. It acts up anywhere. I dont trust what it's telling me any more. Once it's running it stays where it was at, until I shut it off, then who knows what it will show the next time.
Check the harness connector above the fuel tank and make sure there is no corrosion It should be in the middle of the tank toward the framerail you should be able to reach it without dropping the tank.
The gauges reads resistance from the sending unit in the tank so any connector issues could throw off the gauge
Whats the chances of it taking a dive again? Haven't heard much about them here. Have any idea, if all else fail, how much it costs, if it's the sending unit. Taking a long trip in a few weeks and dont want any incidents.
