It would be because the manufacture did not remove all the glycerine or worse complete the reaction thus it is just veggie oil build up. Like dumping grease down your pipes in cold water. Home made bio has much higher personal standards then commericial. When I can run it I run 100 percent. When I finish making my own I will always run 100. Correctly made bio will go right in at 100 percent without any problems and add power and quiet diesel knock. I had to pull over the first time to make sure my truck was running right because I couldnt hear the engine.
Could someone direct me to a report from an independent source on bio? The only ones I have found are from companies that are bias one way or another for their own good. It's cool that he care about my family so much to do whatever he can to save us $$$, but I want to save $$$ on fuel cost and have his support.
I was talking to my service manager (close relation) tonight and he told me about a PSD not sure if 7.3 or 6.0 that came through the shop last month. They basically needed to replase the whole fuel system because of the lard build up. Would this be caused by the glycerin not being removed or not being thoroughly washed? If not What could have caused this?
This was either very poor quality BD. Or it was not even bD it was straight veg oil. BD will not leave faty deposits in the fuel system if it is made right. As for non-bias info go to biodieselcommunity.org or biodieselnow.com
I have run my own home brew in both my 7.3L for nearly three years now. I also just bought a mercedes diesel and am running BD in it too.
I was running B100 for a few tanks last year and my truck loved it. When the weather stays above 40-45* this spring i will change back over to some sort of blend of Biodiesel.
