buddys 7.3 excursion

hummmm, buddys excursion starts fine, but has no throttle responce and no gauge cluster movement at all, the only code was for no throttle responce,
???????????????????????

any one.

Check TPS. It's built into the foot pedal assembly (The gas pedal).

that was my first thought, but why no gauge cluster movement, all is dead, all fuses check out.

bigtorque, if you get me the exact code I can get you a copy of the schematic for that as well to help you pin point the problem. As for all gauges inoperative, this is from my Mitchell on Demand guide:

Let me know if that worked, you should be able to zoom in to read it.

Oh yeah one more thing, I don't know the year of your buddy's Excursion so that guide is for an 01. Ford changed wiring harnesses in 02 so if it's an 02 or newer let me know I'll get you the guide for that.

Check for blown fuses, i was replacing my shifter arm when the wires broke and they got grounded and blew the fuse for it, nothing in the cluster would work, would start up but not take throttle. I don't remember which fuse it was though i blew. The truck would just sit there and idle.

Sorry, just caught where you said all fuses checked. That was a problem i had one time though.

thanks, he got the truck back to the house, he is not inn, so maybe he figured it out, i will see.
if not, i will get codes again and year.

01 with a GEM - CJB Fuses 2 (5A), 19 (5A), 29 (5A)

03 with VSM - Central junction box (CJB) fuse(s): 33 (15A). 35 (10A). 41 (10A). 45 (10A).

Those are the fuses listed in the manual to check when there is complete inactivity in the cluster. 19 is tied to the IVS on the pedal for an 01

its an 03, and it was fuse #45
i think he will be visiting here from now on. as he has the PMS bug.
